St. Florian was born in the ancient Roman City of Aelium Cetiumin in present-day Austria around 250 AD. He joined the Roman army and, advancing in its ranks, rose to commander of the imperial army in the Roman province of Noricum. Florian was also responsible for building firefighting brigades and is credited with organizing and training an elite group of soldiers whose sole duty was to fight fires.

Standing at over a foot high, this St. Florian firefighter sculpture is expertly handcrafted of burnished, cold-cast bronze and hand-painted in rich colors.

Presenting Florian as he extinguishes the flames, this sculpture showcases a St. Florian’s golden cross medallion with familiar emblems of firefighting and inscribed with the Firefighter’s Prayer.

The medallion is showcased on a sculptural rock upon which St. Florian plants a triumphant flag, also bearing the St. Florian’s cross.

A mahogany-finished base with golden title plaque adds the perfect finishing touch to this St. Florian cold-cast bronze sculpture.
